Freeaire Fighting Hunger at Vermont Food Bank
Vermont Food Bank strives to gather and share quality food, while nurturing partnerships so no one in Vermont will go hungry. As a member of Feeding America, the non-profit relies on efficient refrigeration to fight hunger and deliver food to deprived Vermonters. For this reason, the foodbank’s three distribution centers use Freeaire®’s All Climate™ system, including the advanced Cooler Controller and Polar Power® package to enhance their refrigeration process while cutting overhead. “In our business, cost savings equals food. Whenever we can cut costs, we can feed more people,” says Communications Director, Judy Stermer. The benefits of Freeaire®’s products fit well with Vermont Food Bank’s mission and model by helping eliminate waste and being efficient.
The Vermont Food Bank is responsible for delivering nearly 8 million pounds of food to 86,000 people in Vermont. ‘Rescued’ produce and perishables from supermarkets are delivered to almost 300 sites across the state to help battle the critical issue of hunger. Freeaire® helps this business strive in giving back to the community while supporting business operations and reducing expenses.
