Dear Friends:

I want to pause here in our presentation of the wonders of the Freeaire® to introduce myself to you. I am the one on whose desk the buck stops. In addition to being the president of the company, I wear a number of hats around here: including webmaster, to name just one. But it is as the Freeaire's inventor and developer that I want to speak with you now.

I first began to experiment with using outside air for refrigeration in the mid-1970's. Over the years I have discovered innumerable ways to delivers ever-better performance. One of the things I learned was that there were other opportunities to save energy besides just using outside air. Door heaters rarely need to be on and are easily controlled. Evaporator fans can be turned off at other times than just when the outside air is cold. The trick was coming up with a way to decide when they can be off, while making sure they are always on when needed. Eventually, the present Cooler Controller began to take shape, with its automatic defrost capability and other features. What was particularly gratifying to discover was that I now had a product that could save significant energy in any climate, at any time of the year. In fact, my analysis showed me that just putting in the Cooler Controller and Circ fan was the most cost-efficient portion of most installations. The Freeaire wasn't just for the frozen North anymore!

If you are reading this on a computer, I don't need to remind you that computers can be unpredictable. One area that took particular attention was the need to make an electronic controller as reliable as a mechanical thermostat. Voltage surges, power failures, software glitches and other roadblocks appeared in the path towards the "perfect" Cooler Controller. We've added a battery back-up so settings aren't lost during power failures, and installed an EMI filter and a "watchdog" chip to guard against power surges. One of the nice things about writing software is that once a mistake in the code is found and corrected, that particular glitch never returns to haunt you. Now, at long last, we have "virtually" arrived at our elusive goal. The Freeaire's Cooler Controller is the most dependable rerigeration controller on the market. With hundreds of installations in place and working well, you can be sure that it has been thoroughly tested and is safe, effective and reliable enough to be entrusted with the job of refrigerating your perishable and valuable products.

Whether you are a walk-in cooler owner, a refrigeration serviceperson, an electric utility demand-side management engineer, an energy services company executive, or someone who is just curious about cutting-edge refrigeration technology, I welcome you to learn all you can about the Freeaire.

Here's a picture of me because I want to let you know that we at R.H. Travers Company stand behind our products. If you find anything that is inaccurate, unclear, or incomplete, please let me know and I will be glad to discuss it with you.

Sincerely,

Richard H.Travers, president
